An angel. “Laila(h), ‘night.’ According to The Zohar, he is ‘an angel appointed to guard spirits at their birth.’ In Jewish legend, he is a ‘demonic angel of night, prince of conception, to be compared to Lilith, demoness of conception.’” (Davidson.) However, there is also a story of Lailah fighting alongside Abraham so that makes him a good angel.
