Katan is to lead the 5th Division, part of the rebel army.

Just as Setsuna and Lucifer are about to fight, Barubelo and a red dragon show up, along with the other Seven Satans. Lucifer exits. Kurai is controlling the dragon; she leaps into Setsuna’s arms. Belial agrees with Raziel to exchange Kurai for a non-interference pact; but that doesn’t mean the Satans are joining the Anima Mundi. They’ll just let them do what they do and not try to stop them.
Uriel, Michael, Kato, Setsuna and Kurai leave Sara under Raphael’s care. At some point, Sandalphon uses his ‘residual nightmare’ to make her leave the room...
Rosiel has consumed Sandalphon to use his power to hold his crumbling body together. He has to get The Tablet of God, kill Setsuna, and resurrect and merge with Alexiel to maintain his physical form. Lucifer is to go to the Gate and kill the 12 Zodiac guardians to use the seals to open the Gate. Also he is to retrieve Alexiel’s body.
Barubelo is fighting with the angels because Lucifer is her husband so she doesn’t want any harm to come to him. Kato kills her. Uriel notices, too late, that Kato is falling apart; he has to cut himself to remember what it feels like to be alive. He can’t remember his life other than the pain he feels when he cuts himself (no Kira, Setsuna, or anyone.) He also contained the Egg of Wormwood (which Uri gave him) which, although destroying 1/3 of all life, including sending a meteorite down to Assiah, killing 1/3 of humans, it made the Gate ascend again (so they can get to it) But Lucifer had reached it all ready; they have to get through before Lucifer. As Kato’s last memory – where he wants to kill Lucifer – is keeping him alive, Setsuna and crew run to the Gate. Setsuna gets stuck at the door, and Kato pushes him through: “Goodbye, Setsu.” Lucifer and Kato are locked out. Kato swings the Shinryu blade at Lucifer, knowing it will do nothing. He has a cigarette but can’t get enough energy to light it. A panel shows another cig lighting his – it’s Kira: “So you’re battle’s finally over.” Kato watches the meteorite fall – “Is this the wish the falling star granted me?” Cut to Setsuna: “He said he forgot my name. Liar! Kato...you were such a jerk...right up to the very end!”
