Mathey – Sara is being held with Lil (who was happy to see her) until her trial on charges of angelic sexual relations and incest. Sevy tells the guard Sariel to take him to the cell. He throws Alexiel’s locket earring (which was playing a song Sariel knew) on the ground. Sevy goes to torture Zaphikel, apparently also held in the Tower. He’s bound in chains and stands on spikes – going to have his wings removed. Zaphikel asks Sevy why he hates him so much, says, “Remember Anael? You ruined her, Zaphikel.” Narration: “Former Dominions, Saint Anael. Eyes bluer than the sky of Briah.” Sevy blames her wing-cutting and death on Zaphikel (because of their relationship.) Sevy tells him God isn’t asleep – he’s missing. Etenamenki is hidden somewhere in Heaven. In God’s absence, Adam Kadamon has performed the time-magic miracle to save Assiah even through he is locked in Etenamenki. Sevy will give Zaphikel the chance to regain freedom – to capture Kadamon and locate Etenamenki, so together they can destroy Assiah and Hell to create a new perfect world. Zaphikel tells him it is his twisted ideals that keep him ugly. Zaphikel tears him apart – “If you still try to fly away, then I shall rip off your wings!” He falls at Zaphikel’s feet, exhausted. “You are the one who ruined me!” Zaphikel thinks, “I see. So that’s who you are. The time in your heart has been stopped since that nightmare.”
At the border of the Level – Patrol picks up a cloaked kid with red eyes. He kills the patrol; needs the captain’s fingerprint to get to Mathey. He’s telepathic. “Go ahead, shoot. But do you realize who you’re aiming that gun at?” Turns out it is Raziel.
Shikouten, Raqia dump – The dragon and the boys are met by the Anima Mundi. They are annoyed the Savior has returned to danger. Setsuna begs for another chance to prove himself. They are lead to the base where a “former lieutenant order Great Thrones” female talks to them; they then meet Lord Riuet, who has an electric shocking arm. He has a thing for Kato. The lieutenant explains Zaphikel is scheduled for wing-cutting. The wings are the astral power source, also are the major part of the immune system. The body with no wings becomes invaded and it rots, spreading the rot to the brain and causing a zombie-like state. The rebels can’t save him because that was his order. Setsuna and his crew are going because they aren’t under Zaphikel’s command. The rebels give them a map of the prison, and Riuet presents them with the stealthy merkabah "Fuurin Kazan"; they can use it if he can dissect Kato because he is part plant, part machine. Kira agrees but Riuet has to wait until they get back. Kira gets the border patrol to “capture” Setsuna and they’ll follow the car in the merkabah.
Rosiel’s room – Sariel gets the order for Zaphikel’s immediate wing-cutting. Rosiel says he’ll be “having a party soon. One of the guests will be a rare sight. There will be great trouble if Michael shows up, too.”
Mathey, Zaphikel’s cell, The Empty Corridor – Sevy is watching Zaphikel’s wing-cutting. His last words, in angelic, “This is the path you’ve chosen so watch the result to the very end, Sevothtarte. Or should I say Lailah?” Sevy freaks out. He’s trying to destroy his past to rule over the present. Kira and Setsuna have reached him, but he’s all ready begun to rot. Raziel approached him, but Zaphikel just bites him (eats the chunk he bit off.) Raziel is going to allow Zaphikel to eat him because he can feel Zaphikel’s emotional pain. He takes Zaphikel’s face in his hands and holds him.
Mathey, Sara’s cell – Lil and Sara wonder what’s going on...
On the "Fuurin Kazan" – Riuet tries to turn the ship around but Kato won’t let him. And he won’t let himself be dissected either! As long as his soul is alive, the body Uri built will last. “When I forget how I used to be, my soul will die. And that’s the only time Yue Kato would ever desert his friends! Got that?!”
Mathey, The Empty Corridor – Sariel is the director of it. The security room was destroyed and the prison is disintegrating into the Sea of Acid. Sariel reminds the Reader that angels who lose their wings become ghouls (remember, in Hades.) His eye patch, which covers his Evil Eye, gets removed as the room crumbles. Everyone falls under its power – except Kira! “So [you’re] the special guest for Lord Michael!” Kira: “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Sariel commands Setsuna to fight Kira for him. Suddenly, from behind, a blade pierces Sariel’s Eye. “Why doesn’t my eye work [on you]? Oh, that’s right…You…are blind.” It was Zaphikel who saved the others!
