Summation: July x, 1999, a day known as Angolmore, in modern-day Tokyo, Japan, school children are playing a computer game called “Angel Sanctuary” and some are dying mysteriously. Sara Mudo’s friend Ruri Saiki is one of the students obsessed with the game. Sara’s older brother Setsuna is secretly in love with his little sis Sara. He is somewhat comforted by his punk friend Kira. However, Kira's friend, Kato, generally gives Setsuna a hard time in school. Ruri has a crush on Setsuna and comes to believe Sara is laughing at her behind her back because of it. The game comes alive as the angel Lapis Lazuli and runs a program to “delete” Sara, also causing a city-wide blackout. Sara tries to help Ruri and is almost killed. She is saved by a being known as Adam Kadamon. Turns out Ruri is possessed by an angel named Rosiel, the Inorganic Angel. He can give electronic cells to humans to turn them into his meat puppets. His twin sister Alexiel, the Organic Angel is frozen in crystal in the Fifth Heaven. Another angel, Katan, is on Earth monitoring all this, and threatens the demon princess Kurai and her cousin Arachne to stay out of the angelic goings-on, as the Evils are trying to restore Alexiel to her former powerful self. During the war of Heaven (the fall of Lucifer), Alexiel attacked God with the demons. The last battle was between Rosiel and herself at Etenamenki, the Tower of God. She sealed him in the earth but God cast her body in Angel Crystal, with her soul to go through endless reincarnations with terrible deaths. Her Seven-blade Sword was shattered during this battle. Kurai and Arachne tell Katan, “The time is closing on the Grand Cross when God’s power is diminished and the power of the Devil awakens. Please return to Atziluth!” God is slumbering in Briah at this time. Near the end of the book, Kira gives Setsuna an amulet and Rosiel tries to feed Katan a chip, stating “Follow your father’s orders."
